Polydon® — an agronomist's assistant

Website, admin panel and mobile app for Polydon Agro, a maker of liquid fertilisers: product catalogue, tank-mix compatibility check and per-field dosage calculation. It started in 2017 as a replacement for a business-card website.

Client and task

Polydon Agro produces liquid complex fertilisers, nutrient deficiency correctors, plant growth stimulants and adjuvants. The first task was simple: replace an outdated business-card website with a modern one featuring the product catalogue, application schemes by crop, instructions and contacts. Once the site was live, the task grew. Before going out to the field, an agronomist needs to know whether Polydon products can be mixed in one tank with pesticides and herbicides of other brands, and how much of each to pour into the tank. The client needed a tool on the website and on the phone that answers both questions.

What we built

  • A website with the catalogue and application schemes

Nine product groups, from growth regulators to inoculants, the composition of every product, application schemes for 15 crops from winter cereals to grapes and apples, and instructions for preparing spray solutions.

An agronomist finds the product and the scheme for their crop without calling a sales manager.

  • Tank-mix compatibility check

Check two Polydon products together, a Polydon product with a pesticide registered in Russia, or two products with a pesticide. The service suggests suitable adjuvants for the mix. The algorithm was agreed with scientific experiments and the professional community. The check works both on the website and in the app.

An incompatible mix shows up before the sprayer is filled.

  • Per-tank dosage calculation

The agronomist enters the field area, sprayer tank volume and application rates; the app calculates how much of each product goes into the tank and how many refills are needed.

The mix is spread evenly across the field, no maths on paper.

  • The app works offline

Data is downloaded on first launch, after that the check and the calculation work without a connection. For the treatment location the app shows the weather and an hourly forecast for three days. Registered users save a mix together with the weather and coordinates at the time of treatment.

The tool works in the field where there is no signal, and the treatment history is kept.

  • One product database and an admin panel

All the company's products were moved into a database: composition, purpose, mixing rules. The website and the app read from it, and the Polydon team maintains it in the admin panel.

A new product or compatibility rule is changed in one place, with no developer involved.

  • Climate control

We built a section for farmers with materials on crop vegetation and weather conditions, filtered by region, year and category.

Farmers could see what was happening to crops in their region.

  • Press, events and field trials

An events feed filtered by date and topic, a press section, research institute and field trial reports, seminar videos.

Trial results from real farms sit next to the catalogue.

  • A website in seven languages

In 2025 the site was sped up, product search was rebuilt, translation into English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese was added, along with a sitemap for search engines.

A foreign partner reads about the products in their own language.

How it works

The website, the admin panel and the app share one database of products and mixing rules: whatever the Polydon team changes in the admin panel is what website visitors and app users see. On first launch the app downloads the database and then checks and calculates the mix right on the phone, so no connection is needed in the field. It fetches the weather and the forecast once a connection is back.

Timeline and scale

  1. October 2017 kick-off: product database, API and admin panel.
  2. 2018 new website with the catalogue and application schemes, work on the mobile app begins.
  3. 2018–2020 climate control, press section, mix check on the website, mobile app. The latest app version in Google Play dates from November 2020.
  4. 2022–2023 the website moved to new infrastructure.
  5. 2025–2026 website update: faster catalogue, new search, seven languages, sitemap for search engines, VK Video videos. Latest changes: March 2026.

Scale: four parts (website, admin panel, API and mobile app), about 2,700 commits.

What the client got

  • From a business card to a working tool for agronomists

The website not only presents the products but helps to use them: a scheme for the crop, a mix check, a per-tank calculation.

  • Compatibility is checked before going to the field

An agronomist sees which products can be mixed with pesticides and what to add to the mix, on the phone and offline.

  • One source of data

Catalogue, composition and mixing rules are maintained in one admin panel and are the same on the website and in the app.
