Host cities and rules
Maps of Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan with the host cities, the rules and regulations, the stages of the season from training to regional qualifiers and the final in Moscow. A separate page explains that participants need an adidas Universe card and where to get one.
In a couple of minutes a visitor knows whether the games come to their city and what it takes to take part.
Participant application
A seven-step path: rules, sign-up, choosing a sport, contacting the sports community leader in your city, kit, schedule. The application form takes the city and discipline from reference lists, citizenship, the Universe card, how the person heard about the games and the consents. The applicant gets an email, and the organisers export applications from the admin panel by date, country and city.
Applications arrive in one format and are easy to sort by city.
Schedule and results
A training schedule by city and week: date, venue, discipline, coach; a search for the community leader by city. Results for every discipline, separately for men and women, with search, sorting and pagination: 100 metres, kettlebell swings, 3000 metres, burpees, pull-ups and more. News, schedules and results are managed in the admin panel.
Participants find their session and see where they stand among everyone in the same discipline.
The 2018 platform home page
The programme is split into tracks: "Show what you can do" with personal challenges, "Team battle" with tasks for employee teams, "More about sport" with articles and quizzes, and "Your start" for beginners. Next to them are upcoming events, a "Suggest your own event" form, the leaderboard and prizes: the best multi-athlete after six months wins tickets to the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Everyone picks their own way to take part, and activity in any track counts towards the overall score.
Challenges
Four waves from November 2017 to May 2018: Start, Power, Speed and Drive. Each has a set of exercises, rules, a technique video and deadlines. Participants submit their time and a video link on the challenge page or in their account; the best results are published separately for men and women. The team battle uses the same tasks, and the captain submits the team's result.
Every few weeks a participant gets a new task and a new place on the leaderboard.
Weekly training plans
A day-by-day plan to prepare for the challenges: warm-up, exercise blocks, rest, stretching and challenge days. The load is set by the number of rounds for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.
People prepare for a task by plan, not by guesswork.
Transformation and personal account
A participant enters weight and height with a body mass index calculation, waist, chest, hip and biceps measurements, target figures after six months of training, a sports goal in their own words and a "before" photo. The next measurement opens on schedule, a bar shows progress, and the transformation earns points. The account shows points, monthly measurements, the goal, challenges, the leaderboard and friend invitations.
Progress is visible in numbers, and the goal is always in sight.
Meal plan
Three programmes: weight correction, muscle gain and keeping fit. A participant enters gender, age, weight and height and gets a two-week menu: five meals a day with portions recalculated for their data. Training days are marked in the table, and portions on those days get bigger.
The menu adapts to a specific person and their training schedule.
"More about sport" and quizzes
Articles on running, nutrition and training, athletes' stories, book and film picks. Quizzes with multiple-choice answers go with the articles, plus a final quiz at the end of the season. Quiz points count towards the overall leaderboard. Questions for a coach can be sent right from the website.
Even those not ready for physical tasks yet can take part and earn points.
adidas Academy
A section for adidas educational programmes: seminars in Moscow and webinars open to everyone, a blog on motivation, sleep and nutrition, and the academy's contacts.
Between challenges, participants have something to read and somewhere to go.
Admin panel and API
The website and the admin panel run on one API. In the admin panel the project team manages challenges (texts in a rich editor, dates, video, result unit and type, images for locked, open and finished challenges), publications, quizzes with questions and correct answers, events and users. People sign up with a form on the website or with their profile on Creators Hub, the adidas employee portal.
The project team publishes new waves, articles and quizzes on its own, without developers.
